FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What type of cookies is used?
We offer a choice of chocolate or vanilla cookies with a variety of flavored icings. The chocolate cookie is available with vanilla or our festive mint flavored icing and the vanilla cookie is available with vanilla or our tropical key-lime flavored icing. The cookies have a nice snap to them and a delightful crunch. They taste delicious and are great with coffee and of course milk! What is the actual size of the cookies?
Our cookies are 3 inches in diameter and weigh approximately 1 ounce. What is the actual size of the picture on the cookies?
The picture on each cookie is approximately 2½" inches in diameter. The icing is recessed approximately ¼ inch from the edge of the cookie. Is this like printing on cakes?
The idea is similar, but the technology is completely different. Images are sometimes put on cakes and cookies by first printing on rice paper and applying the rice paper onto the product. Through the magic of Chocolography™, we print directly onto the cookie surface. This creates incredibly vivid, high-resolution images that taste a whole lot better than rice paper! Do you print your images on rice paper?
Absolutely not! Why anyone would want to eat rice paper is beyond me… We actually reproduce our delicious edible images directly on the surface of the cookie icing. Therefore, our pictures really do taste as good as they look! What do you use to create the actual image on the cookies?
We use specially formulated FDA approved food colorings to produce our edible images. They are 100% safe to eat and enjoy! How do you achieve such great quality images?
We use our “state of the art” patented technology to achieve the best quality reproductions possible. The image is literally reproduced directly onto the cookie surface in vibrant full color using FDA approved food colorings. What can I do to insure my design looks good?
The quality of the picture depends on the quality of the image you provide. The clearer the photo and the more contrast within the photo, the better it will look on the cookie. We recommend preparing your image with white backgrounds and large, legible fonts using colors that won’t blend with your background or image. Keep important text and design elements from the edge of your cookies as images can shift slightly in production. In order to have a higher resolution image, you should save your images at 300 dpi (dots per inch) and at approximately 3” diameter. However, we will resize your image to fit on the cookie. What are the best photos to use?
The best photos for use on our cookies are ones that have clear images, good lighting (not too dark), and display the people or subject relatively close up. Do I have to submit a round photograph?
No, our easy to use design studio provides the ability to crop the image into a circle, zoom in/out and rotate your image. Does the photograph I submit have to be the same size as the picture on the cookie?
No, we will resize your design to fit the cookie. Keep in mind if the subject of the photograph is very small or the quality of the photograph poor, it may not be very clear when enlarged. Is it difficult to use the cookie design studio?
No, in fact it’s as easy as 1 2 3! We developed our design studio to make it easy for anyone to design their own cookie. You simply select your cookie from the shopping cart and click “create your design.” Your cookie will then appear in the design studio where you will then have the ability to upload your image along with your cookie. You will also be able to crop, zoom and rotate the design within the cookie. If you like, you can even add text using a variety of fonts and colors. Once you are satisfied with the design, you will press “save” and you are ready to checkout! Do I have to create my design with the cookie design studio?
No, if you have the skills, you can create your entire design in Photoshop or any other photo editing program. Once you have saved your design, you can still use our design studio to upload it for your cookie order. What types of images won't work?
Photos that are blurry, very dark, or very small will not produce quality results. Try to stick with good quality, high resolution images that are saved at 300dpi. NOTE: In the event we find the design you submitted to be of sub standard, quality we will contact you by phone or email to give you the opportunity to correct the image. If you choose to continue anyway, you will be asked to submitted a “print quality waiver form.”
Do I have to upload my picture or can I send it in the Mail?
You may send a hard copy of a picture in the mail, but you need to include your order information on the back of the photograph so that we know whose picture it is. We will send the photograph back in the cookie package unless otherwise instructed. Do you color match images?
We make every effort to reproduce your image as close as possible and can usually get very close. However, due to the nature of food coloring, we cannot guarantee an exact color match. Can I use images in magazine or from the internet to create a cookie?
No, we must have permission to use any photograph that is sent to us for printing on a cookie. Typically, photographs of this type are copyrighted and copyright laws prohibit us from using the photograph. Do the images on the cookies fade?
When kept from direct sunlight our images will last well over a year. Is the icing always white?
Yes, the icing is always white, as this gives us the best canvas to create vibrant full color images. They are specially formulated for the best quality reproductions possible. Does the icing melt?
